Break between Minister Fransisca and management team ministry

Jeanne-Marie-FranciscaWILLEMSTAD – Curacao Persbureau (Press Agency) reports that there is a break between the management team of the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) and its Minister Jean-Marie Francisca. The Civil Servants have asked her to take concrete steps to break the deadlock.

The final straw for the breakup is the withdrawal of policy director Jeroen Jansen after Fransisca forced him to change an official advice, written by hand. Jansen refused and subsequently offered his resignation. The entire MT is now behind the policy director. General Secretary Bernice Calmes took the Jansen’s resignation under consideration and tried to seek clarification from her Minister, which she has not yet received.

The Management Team has strong criticism of the Minister. The Minister never involves the Ministry in her work, while often making decisions, which should be bilateral. Both parties have agreed to change this, but the Minister continued with her practices.

According to Persbureau, the relations between the Minister and the Parliamentary faction of the party which appointed her, Pueblo Soberano (PS), is not well. At a hastily convened crisis meeting of the Ministry, the PS faction did not even show up.
