Bus drivers and Ministry to meet
WILLEMSTAD - The union for bus drivers and the Ministry of Economic Development will meet this afternoon. This was announced by the leaders of the union to the media. The parties will talk about when the report on bus tariffs will be presented by the Government Accountants’ Bureau (SOAB) and where and when the bus drivers will get the opportunity to view this report.
The bus drivers do not agree with the reduction of tariffs. Therefore, they went on strike last week and blocked the entrance and the exit of the bus station in Otrobanda. Although the lowering of the bus fares has actually been adopted, the bus drivers continues to charge the old rate during the weekend.
According to the union, it is not fair that tariffs are reduced while they are still negotiating with the Ministry about how a fair rate.
