CAH Director defends himself in parliament
WILLEMSTAD - Maurice Adriaens, director of the Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH), was invited to come to parliament to give a presentation about his work and his vision for the Curaçao aviation sector. During his presentation, he was heavily criticized for this spending habits. According to the political leader of the coalition party PAIS, Alex Rosaria, Adriaens has used a lot of money on expensive trips. The MP even indicated one case where 600 thousand guilders was spent for a trip of twelve employees.
His spending pattern roused suspicion by some of the MPs.
The PAR MP, Armin Konket indicated that the reason Minister Palm, who is responsible for CAH, did not renew Adriaens contract had nothing to the with the Director’s performance. “This is more of a revenge for the time when Rosaria was junior minister and Adriaens was minister. This is a pay back,” said the PAR MP.
Adriaens also answered questions during his presentation. He also stated that he has complied with all the objectives. Independent MP, Omayra Leeflang said that the criticism against Adriaens is unjustified. According to Leeflang, this is clearly a “Quitate tup’aponerme yo” case, or in other words “we get rid of you so we can take your place”.
Adriaen’s contract, which was not renewed last month, will expire on June 1stthis year.
