Chairman ruling party takes Minister Palm to court
WILLEMSTAD – The new chairman of the Pueblo Soberano party (PS), Edward Joseph has taken legal steps against the Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm.
Reason for this, according to Joseph, is that the minister had failed to reappoint him as a commissioner in the supervisory board of the government company CURINDE. Joseph was appointed to that post four years ago.
Minister Palm did not want to comment on the case, but indicated that he is ready to fight in court. The minister also did not give a reason why he did not want to extend Joseph’s appointment as a commissioner.
Members of the PS party indicated that they do not understand what the problem is with the appointment of Joseph. “He was already a commissioner. All the minister had to do was to sign the decree to reappoint him on that post.”
Minister Palm did indicate that he was surprised when he received the letter from Joseph’s lawyer. “There were many different ways to handle this. He could have called a meeting of the coalition parties or request a meeting between the leaders of the party. He chose to go to court, so I will see him there,” said the minister during an interview.
