Charles Cooper named as possible interim Prime Minister
WILLEMSTAD - Charles Cooper is being named as the candidate for Prime Minister of the new interim government. This is according to several well-informed sources in Willemstad.
Cooper, who with his own party PAS did not win any seat in the last elections, was approached by the biggest party in the new majority, the MFK. His name was presented by ‘formateur’ Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia to be nominated for Prime Minister of the interim government. Until last year, Cooper was Member of Parliament for the party MAN. He left the party and stayed in Parliament as an independent MP for the remainder of the term. During the Schotte-cabinet, he was Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning.
Another name that was mentioned as a possible candidate for Prime Minister is Sheldry Osepa. He was Minister Plenipotentiary in The Hague during the government headed by Schotte.
According to sources close to the new majority, the names of the candidate ministers will soon be presented to the Governor for screening.
