Cicely van der Dijs resigns as board member development bank Korpodeko
WILLEMSTAD - Cicely van der Dijs, wife of MFK leader Gerrit Schotte, resigns from her position at the development bank Korpodeko. She stated this in a letter to the media. Van der Dijs stops as a board member at the development bank following the suspicion against her in the criminal investigation Babylon.
Former Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gerrit Schotte and his partner are suspects in the case of money laundering and forgery. Because of this suspicion she was asked to resign from her position as a board member. This request came from the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS).
The couple was arrested on May 20, 2014 in connection with the investigation dubbed Babel. The former Prime Minister and his partner were released awaiting trial. Schotte was released seven days after the arrest. Van der Dijs was released after two days.
The money laundering case was recently adjourned. The matter was supposed to be dealt with on January 16 of this year. Why the case was postponed, is not known. Also, there was no new date announced.
