Constancia released, but still a suspect
WILLEMSTAD – Jacinta Constancia was released from prison yesterday. She was arrested just a week ago on suspicion of embezzlement, fraud, forgery and money laundering. Former Minister of Public Health and current Member of Parliament for the opposition party MFK had reported himself to the police for interrogation.
According to the Prosecution, Constancia has been interrogated several times in the last week and remains a suspect. During the interrogations she was not allowed to have contact with other people.
Constancia is a suspect in the Dubnium case which took place between 2010 and 2012, when she was a minister. 365,000 guilders paid for the purchase of masks. The items were then never delivered.
Last Saturday her party colleague and former Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gerrit Schotte stood outside the prison walls with a group of MFK supporters to demonstrate their support for Constancia.
