Controls on public transportation
WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Economy Development started this week with controls on fares on public transport. Those drivers who charge more money for a ride will get a hefty fine.
With three violations, the transport license may be revoked. This is according to Rony Cornelis, head of the inspection service of the Ministry. Recently, the bus drivers announced that they themselves, through their union, want to calculate their rates.
The drivers also announced that children over two years who are sitting on an adults lap should pay for the ride. Earlier this was free.
