Cooper: “Whiteman to address stench Hanchi makaku”

Charles CooperWILLEMSTAD - In a letter to the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature, Ben Whiteman, the MP for the opposition party MAN, Charles Cooper indicates that something must be done about the stench in Hanchi makaku in Salina. “The situation is unacceptable and bad for health,” said Cooper.

Employees, shop owners and visitors have been complaining about the stench in the alley for some time now, according to the opposition MP.

“This stench is because of the water and waste next to the buildings,” Cooper said in his letter. “Employees have the repeatedly asked the Health Department (GGD) for help, but to no avail. So far no one from the GGD has visited the place and all those that complain are being ignored. This while the government has announced that it will attract more buyers to Salina,” said the MP.
