Council of States looks into Minister Plenipotentiary’s position

Marvelyne WielsTHE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The Council of State will take a look into the position of the Minister Plenipotentiary in the Kingdom Council of Ministers. This was decided by the Parliamentary Committee for Kingdom Relations in the Second Chamber of the Dutch parliament. The Council of State is the highest advisory body to the Dutch government.

This decision comes following the recent allegations that the current Minister Plenipotentiary, Marvelyne Wiels, has lied about her formal training and her employment history

Prime Minister Mark Rutte said, after parliamentary questions, that he cannot Wiels’ entry to the Kingdom Council of Ministers. The parliamentary committee now wants an opinion of the Council of State on this issue.
