Curaçao calls for help against organized crime

Nelson Navarro1WILLEMSTAD – The Government of Curacao request assistance from the Netherlands and the other islands in the Dutch Kingdom to begin an offensive attack against organized crime. This is according to the Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro. He made that statement in response to the preliminary report presented by the Committee of legal experts who investigated the death of one of the key witnesses in the murder of the late politician Helmin Wiels, Luigui Florentina, alias Pretu.

According to Minister Navarro, Curacao is currently destabilized and is in the grip of organized crime. The island is struggling all by itself and needs help from the other countries in the Kingdom. The Minister indicated that even in the police force there are those who might be in the grip of organized crime.
