Curaçao Development Institute (CDI) gives further elaboration to the MoU between the World Bank and the government of Curacao
WILLEMSTAD – On 15 September this year, the World Bank and the government of Curacao signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Right after the signing of this agreement the Curaçao Development Institute (CDI) start elaborating on the content of this agreement and signed the first contract with the World Bank.
The bank will deploy its experts for a research on the improvement of the development financing sector of Curaçao. The contract for this research was prepared in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated October 14, 2015, by the CDI and is carried out in a partnership with the Development Bank Netherlands Antilles (OBNA) and Korpodeko.
The aim of the research is, given the contemporary reality of the Curaçao economy, to make an inventory of the focus areas and to achieve effective and efficient solution models to continue to address our developmental financing industry.
Furthermore, the World Bank, the CDI and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will start a program for the awareness and implementation of public and private partnership very soon. This is a form of financing and implementation of projects which are increasingly used in the world and where the need for project financing is minimized by means of public funds.
