Curacao signs fiscal treaty with Seychelles

WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim was recently in New York, Jose Jardimwhere he signed a fiscal treaty with the Republic of Seychelles. According to the Minister, this is a treaty to prevent double taxation. This treaty should open doors for Curacao to enter the African continent, seeing that Seychelles is right off the coast of the African continent.

Minister Jardim explained that in the past, Curacao has tried in many ways to get access to African countries, which now have rising economies. These efforts, e.g. through  Angola, did not give any result. “The reasons for these failures are not relevant anymore,” the Minister said.

Seychelles considers Curacao as an ideal gateway to enter the Latin American market. “The reciprocity agreement is very interesting,” the Minister indicated.
