Detention Jamaloodin suspended, suspect will be released

George JamaloodinWILLEMSTAD – The request made by the lawyer of former Minister of Finance and suspect in the case Maximus, which is the investigation into the intellectual authors of the murder of the late politician and Member of Parliament, Helmin Wiels, George Jamaloodin, was honored by the magistrate. The suspect was released pending his case in court. He is still a suspect.

The magistrate indicated that in his opinion, there are currently not enough serious reasons to keep the suspect in detention.

The Public Prosecutor can appeal this decision to the Court of Justice.

This is contrary to decisions taken when a request was made pursuant to Article 91 Code of Criminal Procedure last week as was the case with the co-defendant Robbie dos Santos’ case.

The Public Prosecution is considering presenting this case to the Court of Justice. The investigation continues unabated.
