Dutch MP against loan for Curacao

Dutch ParliamentTHE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch MP for the coalition party VVD, Andre Bosman was adamant about his opinion whether Curacao should receive a loan from the Dutch government or not. Bosman said that the Minister of Finance, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, representing the labor party PvdA, should check whether it is justified to give Curacao a loan of about 25 million Euros.

The finance spokesman of the VVD, Mark Harbers, and Andre Bosman submitted written questions about Curacao’s application for a loan. Both MP’s want to know if the Dutch Minister of Finance has verified if Curacao has met all the requirements set forth by the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT).

The MPs pointed out to Dijsselbloem the shortcomings presented by the CFT in their most recent annual report. Harbers and Bosman believe that not having an audited financial report is a sign that Curacao does not have its finances in order.
