Dutch Parliament: “Better screening Venezuelans”
THE HAGUE – If it is up to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, Curaçao border control authorities would better screen Venezuelans entering the island. There should also be a better asylum policy, according to the Chamber.
A motion was approved yesterday by the Dutch Parliament which was proposed Andre Bosman of the ruling party VVD. In his motion, Bosman asks the Dutch Government to urge the Curaçao authorities to improve both the admission and screening of Venezuelans and the asylum law. According to Bosman this is important seeing the political situation in the South American neighbor.
Asylum policy is an autonomous matter of Curaçao. It is therefore for Curaçao to decide what they will do with the motion from the Second Chamber.
