Dutch parliamentarians to visit Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD — A delegation from the Dutch Upper Chamber will visit Curaçao from January 5th up to and including January 7th. The visit of the Dutch parliamentary delegation, led by Marijke Linthorst (PvdA) – chairwoman of the Standing Chamber Committee entrusted with Kingdom Relations – is part of a working visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. From January 2nd up to and including January 13th the delegation will visit several islands in the ‘West’. The members of the delegation and the local parliamentarians will assemble for an acquaintance meeting on Curaçao on Monday, January 7th in the Welensali conference room of the Parliament of Curaçao.

The last acquaintance meeting between the Parliament and a Dutch delegation involved quite a bit of political commotion between the then chairman of the Parliament, Ivar Asjes (PS) and Dean Rozier (a MFK-member at the time), who chaired the Committee Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Kingdom Affairs. Asjes disallowed an informal meeting of the two delegations in private in the Parliament Building. As a result the informal acquaintance meeting was held at a restaurant.
