FAA assessment Curaçao aviation end of 2015
WILLEMSTAD - According to the plan, the USA Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be on the island to assess the Curaçao aviation and the airport.
It is the intention for the Curaçao aviation sector to regain the category 1 status. This was announced by the Minister of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning, Suzanne Camelia-Römer during the weekly press conference of the Council of Minister.
In 2012, Curaçao aviation was downgraded to category 2, because it did not comply with a number of safety requirements. In the meantime the whole Department of Aviation (CCAA) has worked hard to recover this status, according to the Minister yesterday.
The Council of Ministers has approved the required law and the business plan presented by the CCAA. The Minister indicates that she hopes that by the end of October she will be able to send the legislation to the Advisory Council for approval. This is a requirement before it is presented to parliament.
