Former Minister of Finance wants Justice to clear his name

george_jamaloodin-caryllisch_carolien_martinaWILLEMSTAD - George Jamaloodin through his lawyer Alicia Blonk filed civil proceedings at the Court of First Instance stating that the Public Prosecution Service is responsible for the damage caused to his good name and reputation.

The former minister was and is mentioned among other things in the criminal case of the intellectual authors of the murder of Helmin Wiels as one of the suspects but was not detained. In total, he is suspect in three cases.

The Public Prosecution has not summoned him to date nor have any documents been submitted. According to Jamaloodin he cannot defend himself because of this, but his name and reputation are damaged by the Public Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution has requested his extradition from the Venezuelan authorities and the highest court in that country has allowed it. But rules and procedures would still stand in the way of the actual extradition.
