FTAC approved by parliament
WILLEMSTAD - The law on setting up a competition authority, the so called Fair Trade Authority Curaçao (FTAC) carries the approval of parliament.
This is evident from the meeting held this week in the central committee of parliament. Only a few MPs spoke about this topic. The leader of the coalition party PAIS, Alex Rosaria had some specific comments including the extent to which members of the FTAC can enter private homes to investigate unfair competition. Rosaria said that he’s emphatically against this. This section should be, in his opinion, removed from the Ordinance. He also connects the link to international developments and believes that it is important that this Ordinance contributes to the international participation.
The PAR leader, Zita Jesus-Leito gave a report on the content of the law, and mainly wants to know more about the market research that took place which is the base for the Ordinance.
