Gaming Control Board and UTS react to Dutch MP’s questions
WILLEMSTAD – According to the Gaming Control Board (GCB) they are successful in exercising their tasks of monitoring the casino industry. “The GCB is a highly professional organization with extensive specific knowledge and experience with regard to the complex monitoring of the gambling industry.”
“Also UTS and its subsidiaries adhere to laws and regulations that apply to them in the jurisdictions in which they operate,” said the telecommunication company. UTS has incorporated the Curaçao Code of Corporate Governance in its statutes and in its operations,” said a representative of the company.
According to UTS, they are also the only telecommunications provider on the island that provides the dedicated concession to the entire island and complies to these obligations.
Both respond to the statements of the Dutch MP Ronald van Raak of the opposition party SP. Van Raak again raised questions to Minister Ronald Plasterk of Kingdom Relations on reports of various media about the Curacao gaming sector. Van Raak believes that the Curacao supervision on the gambling sector is failing. He also wants clarification on UTS, which, as telecommunications, would facilitate online casinos and SMS lotteries.
“The acquisition of CTEX could be intended to expand these activities,” said the Dutch MP. Van Raak also wants to know who checks UTS’ financial reports.
