Gerrit Schotte strikes back

Gerrit SchotteWILLEMSTAD – The leader of the opposition party and former Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gerrit Schotte wants to take Premier Ivar Asjes, Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim and the leader of the coalition party, Alex Rosaria to court. The MFK leader openly declared this on his facebook page yesterday.

“It is time to start a lawsuit against Ivar Asjes, José Jardim and Alex Rosaria and all others who lie and to demand a declaration in court in which shows that the statements made by these three are without basis and are unlawful. Not a lawsuit, but a substantive proceeding. Such a case should begin with a preliminary testimony of among others the members of the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT) under oath. The same applies to Jardim. He must explain, under oath, how it can be that almost 300 million guilders disappeared during his tenure as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, according to his own words,” Schotte said.

According to the current Prime Minister of Curaçao, Ivar Asjes, the government coalition parties Pueblo Soberano (PS), PAIS, PNP and Independent MP, Glenn Sulvaran have inherited a deficit of 294 million guilders from the government headed by former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte. This deficit was accumulated between October 10, 2010 and the end of 2012. The Minister of Finance, Jose Jardim was able to balance the budget with the help from the other Ministers of the current Cabinet.
