Goat thieves have free reign in Bándabou

Zita-Jesus-LeitoWILLEMSTAD – The residents of Bándabou (western side of the island) complain bitterly about the theft of goats. “We have received some complaints from various residents who report to the police, but nothing is done,” says the leader of the opposition party PAR, Zita Jesus-Leito.

She demands an explanation in a letter to Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro.

For many families, the goats are the only source of income, says Jesus-Leito in her letter. The theft of these animals also creates a lot of anger and frustration among the residents of Bándabou. “We do not report anymore, because we are not heard. It is just a waste of time. The government does nothing for us,” said the residents.

In her letter to Navarro, Jesus-Leito demands a concrete solution to the problem. She also wants clarification on the plan to create a safer Curaçao and if Bándabou is included in this plan. Jesus-Leito also wonders if the emergency plan of the government 'Ta Basta Awor' is going to focus on this area. Finally, she wants to answer to the question whether Navarro is aware of the complaints among the residents and how he intends to address the negative image of the police in this area.
