Government is busy with finances

WILLEMSTAD – At this time, the interim government is busy solving Curacao’s financial situation. Through a financial dialogue with trade unions and employers, the government is looking for the measures necessary to improve the situation.

On Monday, the national dialogue should be completed, according to Prime Minister Stanley Betrian at a news conference held yesterday. The report of the discussions must be submitted to the Economic and Social Council and Advisory Board. Within weeks these councils should give their advice on these measures. The next step is a plan of action which should be approved by the parliament.

The intention is to execute this action plan before the end of this year. Major cuts in government spending are inevitable If the finances of the country are to be saved.
