Government will tackle illegal construction
WILLEMSTAD - The government has begun to demolish illegal buildings on the island. Yesterday afternoon, a team of the Department of Public Works was active in the area of Tera Kòrá (on the way to the western side of the island).
Twelve residents had divided plots and started building foundations in a conservation area the size of two soccer fields. The bulldozer arrived with a police escort demolished everything. Residents watched, but did nothing.
Residents who have an illegal property in Sabana Baka at Fuik, Las Almas at Barbouquet, in Boca St. Michiel or Hanenberg Montaña Abou, will soon see a bulldozer in their area.
Public Works Management will first tackle illegal constructions in these areas.
