Governor gives hope about solving political impasse

WILLEMSTAD - The pressure on Governor Frits Goedgedrag has considerably increased in recent days. Both the Parliament and the community eagerly awaits his verdict on the two groups existing in parliament. Through a press release, Goedgedrag gives hope after the weekend that the orientation phase will be completed.

Between last Friday and yesterday the governor held exploratory talks with several States members. The calls were about the situation created after eleven members of parliament adopted motions of no confidence against members of the demissionary government.

Goedgedrag spoke these last days with the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board C.M. Grüning, Ivar Asjes, Dean Rozier, the leaders of the political parties in parliament and demissionary Premier Gerrit Schotte. In the conversations they had with the Governor they explained how the current situation should be solved according to them.

Due to the complexity and sensitivity of the matter at this time, the governor is considering now which steps he should take. He gives hope that soon after the weekend the orientation phase will be completed.
