Guangdong Zhenrong gives presentation to Members of Parliament
WILLEMSTAD – This week a delegation of the Chinese State Company Guangdong Zhenrong Energy Co. Ltd (GZE) gave a presentation to the Parliament of Curaçao. The president of the company Binyan Chen together with the Vice President of Zhenrong Holding Limited, Chao Lu were part of the delegation and were responsible for the presentation. According to some of the MPs, the presentation was impressive.
The delegation spoke about their international activities, which in the future will include Curaçao. The GZE expressed its confidence in the success of the project, according to the partners that are involved. Chen mentioned in this respect the Chinese refinery Synopec, which ranks as the number one in the world. Chen also mentioned the China Development Bank as one of the other strong partners in the project to upgrade the Isla.
GZE indicated that it is possible that the investments involved in the modernization of the Isla refinery could go up to 6 billion dollars.
The delegation also spoke about the work force development and their Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Curaçao, which was signed last week. Both parties will work together to train new employees for the refinery.
Chen indicated that they are interested in the oil terminal operations, the refinery operations, airline investments, free zone investments and a conference center for events and meetings.
The Prime Minister of Curaçao Hensley Koeiman was also presented and took all the questions from the MPs. He will have about two weeks to answer these.
