Gumbs is not aware of decree for dismissal

WILLEMSTAD – Suspended Chief of Curacao Secret Service (VDC), Edsel Gumbs declared that he’s not aware of the existence of a National Decree for his dismissal as Head of the VDC. Gumbs emphatically stated that should he be fired he will be in court within 24 hours.

Just before the departure of the Interim Government Betrian in late December, a National Decree was being drawn for the dismissal of Mr. Gumb. The decree is on the Governor’s desk but is not yet signed.

Mr. Gumbs was suspended when former Prime Minister Schotte came to power. Gumbs took the Government to court but Schotte refused to comply with these verdicts to return Mr. Gumbs back to his position. Three times already did the court rule in favor of Mr. Gumbs and in all three cases the Government has rejected these rulings by presenting other reasons why Mr. Gumbs should not return as Head of VDC.
