Immigration at Hato forces Venezuelans to take 500 dollars from ATM
WILLEMSTAD - Immigration at Hato airport is forcing Venezuelans to show 500 dollars in cash upon arrival in Curacao. If they don’t have this, the will be sent to an ATM machine.
That is according to MAN MP Charles Cooper. “There is no law that demands the possession of cash for arriving passengers,” said the opposition MP.
The instruction that once applied to Venezuelans has long ago been withdrawn because it was discriminatory.
According to Cooper some of the immigration officers still do not understand that. He wants the Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro to solve this problem.
