In the short term more information on construction new hospital
WILLEMSTAD - The coalition partners agree with each other, there must be clarity about the construction of the Hospital Nobo Otrobanda (HNO) and the costs involved. That was the decision of the coalition council which took place recently.
“We want transparency. There needs to be clarity about the cost, the initial plans and how they are put into effect,” said the leader of the coalition party PAR, Zita Jesus-Leito.
The PAR-leader had requested a meeting with her coalition partners to discuss this issue. She was particularly concerned about the latest development regarding the construction: the cost of over 58 million. “The construction of the new hospital should not be a burden for the people.”
During the consultation it became evident that the relations between the various parties provide complexity. Jesus-Leito is referring to the fact that the government has signed an agreement with USONA. There is also an agreement with the contractor Ballast Nedam and consultancy bureau Berenschot. The coalition parties want to know how these agreements are structured and whether there have been reports and accountability up to now and to whom.
The government will ask USONA to provide that information. It is intended that in the short term the information is available. The topic will also be on the agenda of a Central Committee meeting of parliament.
