Isla guarantees payment salaries
WILLEMSTAD – The recent statements made by the outgoing Prime Minister of Curaçao Dr Bernhard Whiteman were cause for some consternation among the oil refinery employees. Whiteman said that the Venezuelan State Oil Company PdVSA can only guarantee the payment of salaries until December this year.
Whiteman said during the Central Committee of Parliament that the financial situation of the Venezuelan company is so deplorable that it cannot pay the salaries next year. PdVSA said that those statements are completely false.
PdVSA also denies that the management has to turn in their company cars. Whiteman declared that because of the financial situation, the traditional oil refinery’s Christmas celebration will not continue. This has also been denied by the oil refinery.
A large group of employees gathered at the oil refinery to demand clarification on these statements made by the Prime Minister.
