Islands come with their own dispute arrangement
WILLEMSTAD - Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten will not agree to a dispute arrangement devised by The Hague. The Dutch government in The Hague wants the Council of State to handle all disputes between the Netherlands and islands.
Representatives of the islands and the Netherlands are currently in Sint Maarten for the inter-parliamentary dialogue in the Dutch Kingdom. Curaçao will now come with its own proposal for a dispute arrangement, which is supported by Aruba and Sint Maarten.
Details are not known, but Curaçao always wanted a strong role of the Supreme Court to resolve disputes and disagreements in the Kingdom.
