Jamaloodin wishes to be taken off of suspects list Maximus case
WILLEMSTAD - Former Minister of Finance, George Jamaloodin thinks it’s about time that the Public Prosecution (OM) should take him off the list of suspects in the Maximus case. He has submitted a request to the court.
Maximus is the investigation into the intellectual authors of the murder of the former political leader Helmin Wiels on May 5, 2013. The former minister was arrested on July 24, 2014, and was held until August 4 of that year. The magistrate ruled that there were insufficient grounds to hold him longer.
Jamaloodin believes that it unjust that he is now, two years later, still regarded as a suspect while he was not summoned. The only defendant that has to be presented before the court is Burney ‘Nini’ Fonseca. He’s the one who acted as an intermediary between the clients and the executors of the assassination.
The pre-trial in the case against Fonseca will take place on August 19. He was convicted in another case dubbed Riziña, which has to do with drug trafficking.
