Jardim assesses feelings Parliament on Budget Monitoring Office

Minister Jose JardimWILLEMSTAD – It is expected that the parliament will approve the bill for a Budget Monitoring Office (BMO) for Curacao. In the second half of the year, the BMO should be set up. Recently, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim, met with the permanent committee on Finance on this new State institution.

Before the Minister introduces this bill in parliament, he wants to assess the feeling of the MPs on this proposal. The factions had the opportunity to ask him questions during the meeting, which took place this week. However, not all factions were ready to ask questions and agreed with the Minister that he will meet with the committee again in two weeks. The factions will then have enough time to get back with their parties and formulate their questions.

The Budget Monitoring Office will be charged with financial control of public finances, and to advise the government and the States in the area of ​​the budget.

BMO will replace the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT).
