Jardim should be prosecuted in FDRS case

Omayra LeeflangWILLEMSTAD – “The controversial Fundashon pa Deporte i Responsabilidat Sosial (FDRS), the Sports and Social Responsibility Foundation of the Independent Member of Parliament and coalition partner, Glenn Sulvaran, must refund the money to the government. Two cars must be sold and the Director, Malvina Cecilia must be dismissed from her post.” This is according to the Independent Member of Parliament, Omayra Leeflang following the investigation by the Government Accountants Bureau.

The report shows, according to Leeflang, among other things, that the foundation has acted against the law by requesting funds in advance even before the organization was legally registered at the Chamber of Commerce. “This is against the law, but nevertheless it was granted,” Omayra said.

Furthermore, the Government Ordinance is unclear and Malvina Cecilia was never appointed as the director of the foundation. In the report, the purchase of the cars was registered as non- operating expenses. According to Leeflang the cars should therefore be reimbursed.

Offences

Leeflang believes that the report provides sufficient support for prosecution. There are, according to the MP, several offenses committed, for which Finance Minister Jose Jardim and his officials should be prosecuted. This is also true for Malvina Cecilia.
