Jardim: “We have a balanced budget for 2015”

Jose JardimWILLEMSTAD – The budget for the year 2015 complies with the financial norms of Curaçao. The budget is balanced conforming to the components of spending and earnings. This was declared by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim during the weekly press conference of the Council of Minister in Fort Amsterdam.

The Minister emphasized that the financial policy will continue to be a responsible one. The government will continue to monitor to make sure that everything is done to guarantee service and care for the society. At the same time, the government has started a more accelerated social-economic recovery for the island. 2013 was a very difficult year economy wise. But, according to the Minister, they must recognize that the situation was not as bad as was foreseen.

The budget’s current account has a positive balance of 127.4 million guilders, while the investment account has a negative balance of 127.4 million guilders, which brings the budget to a zero balance.
