Little enthusiasm opposition groups to join coalition
WILLEMSTAD – According to the political leader of the coalition party PAIS, Alex Rosaria, now that the coalition is in its second half of its term, it should seriously reflect on the possible extension of its support in parliament. The political leader believes that should be able to count on a broader support than the current eleven of the 21 seats in parliament.
During a party fundraising last weekend, Rosaria spoke about this possibility. He said that it should be possible to reach a formula for cooperation with MPs who are now in opposition.
Rosaria’s word has caused furrowed brows. In March last year, the PAIS-leader suggested, namely that a possible extension was not appropriate.
Rosaria indicated on various occasions that the support for the coalition was indeed too small, but that their time and energy had to be spent on making the coalition strong.
Some of the opposition MPS indicated that they are not willing to even discuss the possibility of joining the government. They are against the policies of the Cabinet Asjes. The only party that indicated that they could sit at the table and discuss some of the issues was the PAR faction with Zita Jesus-Leito as its leader.
