Little progress Civil Aviation Authority was reason for director to resign

ZitaWILLEMSTAD - Personal reasons, says the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, Zita Jesus-Leito, as the reason for the early departure of director Hans de Jong of the Curacao Civil Aviation Authority, CCAA.

It was clear that De Jong could not make much progress because too little money and too few staff are available. Within the sector, it is said that this is the actual reason for De Jong's departure.

An important process that is currently being worked on within the CCAA is, among other things, the US Federal Aviation Administration's trajectory to bring our island from category 2 to category 1. Furthermore, the CCAA is preparing for the audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization next September.

In a press conference at the beginning of June, Jesus-Leito said that more money and staff would be made available, but to date, nothing has come of it. The minister confirmed this during a recent press conference.
