Marvelyne Wiels eavesdrops on employees

Marvelyne-Wiels-2014-61THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - There is a complaint filed at the Data Protection Authority (CBP) in The Hague against Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao, Marvelyne Wiels (Pueblo Soberano). Wiels is accused of violating privacy of the employees working at the Curacao representation in The Hague.

All incoming and outgoing calls would be recorded and all e-mail traffic is automatically copied and stored according to an anonymous complaint. Everything indicates that it is about one or more employees of the Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary.

The monitoring and recording of email and telephone traffic of workers by employers is in principle not allowed in the Netherlands, provided there is a concrete suspicion of abuse or fraud.
