Minister Camelia-Römer: Government through SVB spends too much on private medical specialists

svb buildingWILLEMSTAD - Minister of Health Suzanne Camelia-Römer explained in parliament recently that according to her, the reimbursement of medical specialists has grown unevenly.

Currently, half of the total number of specialists in the hospital and the other half work as private. The government pays 13 million a year via the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) to those employed by the hospital and 50 million to the private specialists.

The Minister does not call this relationship correctly. Since 2009, new specialists must work in the hospital. Earlier, she announced that she wanted to have more medical specialists working in Curaçao.
