Minister Palm still has support from coalition
WILLEMSTAD – “Resign before you get a vote of no confidence,” said the leader of the opposition party MFK, Gerrit Schotte to the Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm in a recent parliamentary debate. Parliament had a follow-up meeting on the Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH).
Minister Palm survived two motions against him during this parliamentary meeting. The opposition MPs were not content with the answers he gave on the situation around the CAH Director, Maurice Adriaens.
“The minister misinformed parliament. And a minister who does that has to submit his resignation,” said PAR MP Armin Konket in the second round of the debate.
Palm defended himself in the second round fiercely:
“I act in all conscience and I treat everyone with respect. No parliamentarian have to ask for my resignation. If I make mistakes, then I will leave.”
The members of the opposition accused Minister Palm of publicly vilifying the CAH’s name without any good reason. They also tried to stop the appointment of an interim director, because it was not conducted according to the proper procedures.
The motions did not make it and Palm received support from the members of the coalition.
