Minister V.d. Horst and Knowledge Platform discuss importance Information Technology

etienne-vdhorst-en-Kennisplatform-H-2WILLEMSTAD - This week a meeting took place between Minister Etienne v.d. Horst (Administration, Planning and Government Services) and Knowledge Platform. Issues discussed included the role and place of Information Technology within the government organization.

Both parties recognize that information technology is important in the development of government and society. The use of technology also offers several possibilities for increasing the efficiency and productivity.

Following this meeting both parties will examine how and where they can work together on concrete projects.

The Knowledge Platform was set up in 2008, at the initiative of the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications with the support of the Commissioner of Economic Affairs of the Island Territory of Curaçao.

The platform has set a target to promote an 'information society' by addressing the most urgent issues in the short term as well as to set up an integrated and structured approach for the long-term development.

The need for an integrated approach lies in the fact that we tend to fall behind compared to our region with respect to the integrated use of ICT in our society, while behind it lies the basic shape for poverty reduction and a healthy socio-economic development.
