Minister Victorina will meet with Fundashon Prevenshon
WILLEMSTAD - Minister Siegfried Victorina of Public Health said that in January he will meet with Fundashon Prevenshon (Foundation for Prevention). This foundation is dedicated to the prevention of breast and cervical cancer.
Currently the foundation is in a financial difficulty and needs a bridging loan, the Minister said during the budget debate in parliament.
In 2010, the representatives of the foundation agreed with the government that it would be a private initiative. The government would then take on this task after five years. Prime Minister and former Minister of Health, Ben Whiteman, announced on February 25, in writing, that the takeover would continue as agreed. In July, however, Minister Whiteman decided not to continue with the agreement because there was no funds for the takeover.
This was an unpleasant surprise for the foundation, which has been in financial difficulties for several months.
