MP mentioned as a suspect in Maximus case resigns
WILLEMSTAD – The Member of Parliament for the ruling party Pueblo Soberano (PS), Elmber Wilsoe resigns from parliament. This is the result of a leaked document from the Investigation Cooperation Team (RST), in which Wilsoe has been named as one of the suspects in the Maximus case.
Maximus is the investigation into the intellectual authors or those who gave orders and paid for the assassination of the popular politician and former political leader of the biggest party on the island, Helmin Wiels. Wilsoe is named in the leaked document as the one who knew the exact location of his political leader.
Saturday night during a PS meeting, Wilsoe indicated that today Monday he will present his resignation letter to the President of Parliament. He also indicated that he is not doing this because he is guilty, but that he has a conscience.
“I am a man of principle and I respect the institution of parliament. I am against having suspects as Members of Parliament. This is why I will step down and take the time to prepare myself for the battle,” said Wilsoe during his speech.
Next in line on the PS candidate’s list from 2012 to become Member of Parliament is Carlos Trinidad who is no longer a member of the political party. With only 25 days to go for the upcoming elections, this could put the coalition in a very difficult situation.
