NAPB wants emergency meeting in parliament on coastguard
WILLEMSTAD – The police union NAPB wants an emergency meeting with the standing committee Justice in parliament. According to the union, the officers of the coast guard are being wronged by the Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro.
Navarro refuses to give permission to the officers to wear weapons when they are off duty. According to the union, these officers are being threatened by the criminals they are after.
The Minister indicated that he wants to wait for the results of the investigation dubbed Baywatch, before taking a decision. Authorities are investigating corruption charges within the coast guard.
