Navarro surprised about reactions MPs
WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro reacted outraged during the weekly press conference of the Council of Minister on the complaints of the Members of Parliament about purchasing security cameras.
According to the Minister, after the shooting at Hato last July there was a lot of pressure on him to take action by placing these cameras on the island.
These cameras have been purchased for 3 million dollars from a Chinese company which he had become familiar with them during his visit to China. The choice of supplier and purchase of the cameras did not go as usual with a public tender, but Navarro nevertheless claims to have followed the legal procedures in accordance with the compatibility ordinance.
He adds, during the press conference, that the project is in the interest of the country given the wave of crime. The Minister also indicated that there is no way back. The contract with the Chinese company has already been signed. If the government decides to cancel this project, a claim of 3 million dollars could be imposed on state.
