Negotiations with Synergy (Avianca) heading in the right direction

Steven MartinaWILLEMSTAD - It has been confirmed by the Minister of Economic Development, Steven Martina. There is now light at the end of the tunnel for the embattled local aviation company InselAir. Mr. German Efromovich of Synergy Group (shareholder of the Colombian airline Avianca) is in Curaçao this week. The company is interested in a strategic partnership with InselAir.

On August 25 the Court will decide if it will extend the suspension of payment requested by the airline. Three creditors have filed for the airline’s bankruptcy. But before this court hearing, the Minister received the pleasant news that Efromovich is in Curaçao. This was also confirmed by the Minister.

The Minister indicated that the negotiations are in the right direction but are not in the final phase. Hopefully, by the end of this year, this will be the case and that Synergy will then take over InselAir’s operations.
