New coalition: no PS, but with Un Korsou Hustu
WILLEMSTAD – During the weekend it was reported that a new government has been virtually completed. Even the ministerial posts were divided among the coalition parties. But… the Pueblo Soberano (PS) is not part of this coalition anymore. Instead, the new coalition has a small majority of 11 seats with Omayra Leeflang’s party Un Korsou Hustu (A Just Curaçao).
Thus, this new cabinet which will probably be headed by the leader of the MAN, Hensley Koeiman will have the support of a minimum majority of the 21 seats in Parliament. The distribution of the ministerial posts are as follows: MAN – General Affairs (Prime Minister), Education, Culture, and Sports, and Finances; PAR – Public Health, Environment, Economy, and Social Affairs and Employment; PNP – Traffic and Transportation, and Justice; Un Korsou Hustu – Government Services, Management, and Planning.
The parties are still working on the coalition agreement. The ‘formateur’ Kenneth Gijsbertha indicated that he will present his findings to the Governor today.
The participation in the coalition was confirmed by Omayra Leeflang on her social media.
