New meeting on chikungunya as soon as possible

ParliamentWILLEMSTAD - According to independent MP, Omayra Leeflang, the President of Parliament, Mike Franco failed when calling a new meeting to discuss the chikungunya epidemic. She proposes to put the subject as the third item on the agenda for the meeting of December 16.

Last Thursday the meeting to discuss chikungunya was canceled due to lack of quorum. According to Leeflang, the President of Parliament has not made use of the possibility to call a meeting an hour later, while this was possible.

According to Article 66 of the Rules of Procedure of the States, the President is required to either call the meeting again within four times 24 hours. Today, this term has expired. “Even if the President claims it as within four days, there must be a new meeting on the schedule this week. Until now, this is not the case,” Leeflang said.

Tomorrow, Parliament will meet with Minister Earl Balborda (Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning) on the sale of rental housing by Woningbouw N.V. Leeflang wants to hold the meeting on chikungunya during the same meeting.
