New Minister of Health wants more information on construction new hospital
WILLEMSTAD – The new Minister of Public Health, Environment and Nature, Siegfried Victorina stated in a recent press conference of his party Pueblo Soberano (PS) that he agrees that there should be more clarity from USONA and Ballast Nedam about the construction of the new hospital. "We will ensure that we will provide regular information to Parliament on the progress of the project,” said the Minister.
During the recent budget 2016 debates in parliament, several MPs asked about information regarding the new hospital in Otrabanda. According to them the process is not transparent. The opposition MPs, Amerigo Thode, Jacintha Constancia, Marilyn Moses and Omayra Leeflang had several questions on the progress of this project. Even the coalition MP, Zita Jesus-Leito demanded clarification.
In response to questions about the cost and the information, Victorina reports that the government does not necessarily agree with the budget overrun of the Hamelbergweg. "This is being investigated." The Minister was not able to give an estimate of the total cost because USONA is currently doing a calculation.
